Whole-home system prices depend on house size, tonnage, ductwork and equipment efficiency, so almost no Austin contractor posts one. Old West Minisplits replaces ducted systems for homes from 1,000 to 3,400 sq ft and prices them in writing after a free walkthrough.
What sets the price
- Tonnage: a 1,500 sq ft home usually needs far less capacity than a 3,000 sq ft home
- Equipment type: straight AC with a gas furnace, or a heat pump that does both
- Efficiency rating (SEER2): higher costs more up front and less every summer
- Ductwork: reusing sound ducts versus repairing or replacing them
- Electrical and permits: panel capacity, disconnects, and city permit fees

Installs for both brands are performed by a licensed electrician and apprentice electrician. Long line-set runs, a panel upgrade the house already needed, or unusual mounting can add cost; both brands state that before work starts.

Can I finance a full HVAC replacement?
Yes, on approved credit: $2,000 down and 10% APR over 40 to 50 months through Old West Minisplits once the walkthrough price is set.
Should I replace with a heat pump?
A heat pump heats and cools with one outdoor unit. In Central Texas winters it usually costs less to run than electric resistance heat.
Is a mini split cheaper than central air?
For one to three rooms, usually yes: no ductwork. For a whole house with good existing ducts, a ducted system is often the better fit.
